Stop the wedding! The worst things that can happen on your big day

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Everythings been booked for the big day: the castle hotel accommodation for all the guests and the reception, the cake, matching bridesmaid’s dresses, everything seems to be running fine.

Then one of these 5 things happen:

  • The bride or groom doesnt show up. Humiliating to say the least, not something that people forget about -seeing you crying at the church footsteps instead of walking down the alter. Condolenses if this tradegy has befallen you. Sometimes its a case of cold feet, sudden realisation or blind panic that makes them decide to make a run for it.
  • The dramatic revelation during the actual ceremony. One or two people cant ‘hold their peace’ for longer than five minutes let alone forever, and have decided that now is the time to let everyone know. Anything from a past act of infidelity being made known to the bride and groom actually being twins seperated at birth -if you have to tell them something, do it in advance and save them the embarassment.
  • The rings get lost. This happens alot more than you think it does, such a small yet important item going missing in the rush to get everything done, only to get upto the alter and the rings are not there -time to worry. These are the important objects bringing these two people together ’till death do they part’.
  • Gatecrashers coming to the wedding. The jilted ex, whose goal is to ruin the big day by any means necessary or declare their love for one of the intended party, the work collegue who never got their invite and makes it known at every oppotunity. Unwanted guests can choose their moment to act out for maximum effect -let people know that certain people arent to be let in and turned away from the event.
  • Hundreds of the smaller matters to attend to. On the wedding day, the smallest thing that goes wrong can seem much bigger than it actually is, but telling the bride this may just send her over the edge. The food can be wrong, the dj can not turn up, the limo runs out of gas- any number of hundred different things can happen. So just try to take it all in your stride -and pray.

Looking for that castle hotel still? Rowton castle just may well be the place for your wedding.

Choosing Georgous jewellery for your romantic destination wedding

How to wear a wedding tiara

Once you have selected your destination wedding venue, wedding dress then you need to select your wedding jewellery.  They key to your choice of wedding jewellery is really “the dress”!.

It is important not to go overboard. If every piece of jewellery you wear is stunning, then they will all fight for attention and in the process divert attention away from you !

Most people build up a “look” or theme around one particular piece of their wedding day outfit. It might take a while to settle on a theme, and it may change several times before the big day, but at some point you will probably see a gorgeous pair of shoes, or an adorable bouquet of flowers that inspires the rest of your outfit, or even the whole wedding. Whatever your inspiration, it’s a good idea to try and get each piece of the outfit to sit harmoniously with everything else.

First of all, you need to fix the budget for the shopping as mentioned before. This would help you to narrow down your search for the right kind of wedding jewelry. Wedding jewelry can get really expensive; therefore it is a better bet to fix upon a certain amount. It would help you to make a better and a faster mode of selection as well.

You do not always have to spend an exorbitant amount on wedding jewelry. Browse through your mother’s jewelry box and wear a family heirloom.

Balance is the key -

Buy for the Future
Stick to Your Own Style
If your normal style is funky and modern, you are not going to feel particularly comfortable on your wedding day with conservative jewels.

Wedding jewellery is generally fashioned out of crystals, pearls, diamante or a combination of the three, and is available in a vast array of styles and designs. As most brides wear dresses that involve either small or no straps, they choose to wear a bridal necklace, adding a little sparkle to their otherwise bare neck.

If you are going for a theme at your wedding like baroque for a castle wedding keep your jewellery style sympathetic to this style – Whether it be design or colour.

Introduce Colour
While traditionally bridal jewellery is pearl or diamond, silver or gold, there is nothing at all to stop you from introducing more drama by choosing jewellery with some colour.  Pearls look great at a castle wedding.

It is particularly effective to subtly pick up the colours of your bridesmaids dresses with an accent colour in your jewellery. Here are some suggestions:

A gentle taupe introduces soft colour. Shades like this work great with cream coloured wedding dresses or dresses with an antique style.

Red is the bridal colour in China, but for most of us seems quite a brave colour for a bride to wear at her wedding, but if kept as a subtle accent can work brilliantly – especially with a red rose bouquet.

You need to consider your wedding dress and the hair style that you want to go with it before you can think about your wedding jewellery.  Think about your venue too.  An up do and heavy jewels would look silly on a beach.

Another consideration is to buy well made jewellery as you will want it to be passed down to your daughter and hopefully your grand-daughter as a family heirloom.  Costume jewellery even though it is fabulous does not quite cut the mustard i.e. satisfy this requirement.

Consider Buying Wedding Jewelry Online

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The best way to tell the woman you love that you really love her is to surprise her with a sparkling gold or platinum diamond ring. No jewelry is more versatile and durable than precious gold or platinum displaying beautiful sparkling diamonds. But, do you really want to buy something so important as your wedding and engagement rings online? The truth is, you really do want to!

The carefully guarded secret is that you can get the highest quality, custom made jewelry by purchasing online rather than walking through the door of a bricks and mortar store. If you search online, you will find a larger selection of design and quality than most local jewelers can keep in stock, and the prices online will often reflect deep discounts over what local retailers ask.

It makes sense, though. Without the overhead (rent, utilities, etc.) that physical stores have to cover, the best designers and craftsment the world over can bring their finest treasures right to your computer screen and offer them at a fraction of typical retail prices.

For example, consider the Platinum 2 Row Diamond Ring. This beautiful diamond anniversary ring features 2 rows of round brilliant cut diamonds for a .50 or 1.0 Total Carat Weight. The diamonds are set in a classic channel setting featuring a milgrain edge that adds a touch of style. This stunning platinum diamond ring is available in four qualities of diamonds and finger sizes from 4 – 14 in one quarter size increments.

Or, consider an attractive platinum diamond wedding band featuring a row of round brilliant cut diamonds on opposite sides of the ring. The Platinum Channel Set with Vertical Lines contains 12 diamonds securely set in each channel. twenty four diamonds have a 0.75 or 1.50 total carats. This is a beautiful and uniquely designed platinum wedding band. Also, the band is tapered, offering a smaller width on the bottom portion of the ring, to provide comfort for the wearer.

There is a whole world of stunning designs in platinum, so this short article cannot possibley cover them all. Several more articles could be devoted to platinum jewelry without even bringing up the endless possibilities in gold rings. You will be impressed with many of the items of exquisite jewelry you can find at great prices online.

The internet is opening the world to everyone without the need for extensive travel and big bank accounts. Take advantage of the wonders this technology brings to your computer screen, and show the woman you love that you are smart and have excellent taste.

A Distinct Wedding Through Personalization

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

As you plan your wedding this year, chances are many of your friends and family members are planning their weddings as well.  Approximately 3 million weddings take place every year in the United States.  How can you make your wedding stand out from the rest?  Here are some ideas:

Idea #1: Wedding Logos

Brand your wedding in a sophisticated and unique way.  Forget the stale initialed monograms of yesteryear, instead create interesting wedding logos.  Similar to company logos, your logo will represent your wedding.  You can hire a graphics designer to design one for you with a symbol of where or when your wedding will take place. For example, you can put the Space Needle if you are getting married in Seattle, or you can put Jack-O-Lanterns if you are getting married near Halloween.  Afterwards place your initials, wedding date, or even your names — whatever your hearts desire.  You can have your logo professionally stenciled onto an aisle runner, spotlighted unto the dance floor/wall using a gobo projector, or even have it carved on a pumpkin.  And by imprinting them on all your wedding stationery (such as the program cover, menu, wine bottle label, thank you card, etc.), you can tie all the elements of your wedding together with your wedding logo.

Idea #2: Concert Tickets

Announce your special event with customized concert tickets! There are many specialty printers on the internet that print tickets using an actual thermal printer like the ones used to create authentic concert tickets. Have them customize the tickets to create cool save-the-date announcements. Or use the tickets as creative invitations to your wedding, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, “day after” brunch, bachelorette party, or bachelor party just to name a few.

Numbers can be handwritten on the back or on the perforated side. That way you can use the personalized concert tickets as your RSVP cards by having the guests tear the right side of the ticket and mailing it back to you!  Or have your guests hand them in when they arrive at the bridal shower or wedding reception at which point their tickets become lottery tickets for special door prizes.

Idea #3: Wedding Labels and Hang Tags

Packaging for wedding favors is usually bland and blank.  Make them pop with custom wedding labels and hang tags.  Available at many stationery stores or even office supply stores, personalized labels are available in many styles.  Pick one that closely matches your style and wedding color palette, then personalize further with your names, wedding date, a personal message or even the previously mentioned wedding logo.

A Bride’s Emergency Kit

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Wedding Day Emergency Kit

It acts as a stress-buster and enables you to calmly deal with unexpected situations. Knowing that are prepared for any  unforeseen disasters at your french wedding will help you relax. Hopefully no matter what arises, you’re bound to have something in your kit that can deal with it!

Despite checking and double-checking everything…twice and military-like planning like in Mission Impossible everything…twice, problems can  will arise on your wedding day and even possibly at a french wedding. However, being prepared with a [spin]|bride’s[/spin] emergency kit will mean that whatever happens at your french wedding, you will be ready for it and you can carry on with your special day with out getting flustered.

In simple terms, you don’t carry it all with you during the day! Have essentials like lipstick and tissues, close to hand in a small handbag or maybe in your bridesmaid’s/mother’s bag.   The rest should be kept somewhere accessible such as in your locked bedroom if you have accommodation at your wedding reception, or hidden behind a screen or under a clothed table if you are in marquee. Just make sure that your key assistants like your bridesmaids or immediate family know where it is in case of an emergency!

Keep all items in a spacious box, bag or basket so it’s easy to find everything at a simple glance and you don’t have to rummage around.

Just in case your maid-of-honor prefers boy watching to boy scouting, you could either ask someone to help you put this bridal emergency kit together, or pull it together yourself or as a last resort delegate it to your wedding planner.  If she is going to be there for the entire day, drop her an email and check that she has all of these things in her kit and tick it off.  Especially on a destination wedding, if she has it covered you or your bridesmaid do not want to have to worry over it.

Your kit should include the following:-

Attire
‘throwaway’ garter.
clear nail polish for runs in hose
earring backs
emergency buttons
flat shoes or ballet slippers (if necessary)
iron
tights/pantyhose (extras in case anything happened)
safety pins
masking tape (last-minute ripped hems)
small sewing kit, including thread for all dresses, wedding party

Beauty/Grooming
dusting powder for before pictures are taken,
hair spray, brush, barrettes and/or bobby pins
hand lotion, handi-wipes
kleenex
makeup
perfume
Nail polish in shade worn, & remover
small hand towel
toothbrush and toothpaste

antacid
antihistamine, cold remedy
any prescription medications
aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil
plasters/bandaids
hard sweets (better than medicinal scent or cough-drops)
smelling salts
tampons, pads
sun tan lotion (if significant activities will be outdoors)
